Citizen Satellite Wave F900 GPS with Eco-Drive movement

When their first pocket watch was produced in Tokyo in 1924 by the Shokosha Research Institute, the then Mayor renamed this product Citizen. Despite the certainly not affordable cost of the timepiece, in fact, the Mayor hoped that in a few years it would be within the reach of all citizens.

The choice was well received by all researchers: the idea that a luxury product could quickly become a daily companion for the entire population of Tokyo (and beyond), could only represent an additional motivation for everyone's work .

Citizen, in fact, it means "citizen", with a clock that could no longer represent a social status reserved for the richest, but a clock that could bring together all the Japanese and in general, all the inhabitants of the planet, and could become shortly a real national pride.

Citizen promotes an open and multicultural mentality, in which everyone feels "citizens of the world" and promoters of a culture of positive changes for themselves and for the planet. The attention to detail and craftsmanship makes these watches always unique and made with extreme care. Each model, both sporty and elegant, is both aesthetically beautiful and technically functional.

Citizen still resists today at the top of the watch brands, and is currently the leading company of Japanese timepiece manufacturers: Seiko, Casio and Orient Watches follow Citizen.

To date it is a brand that leads the world market because of its mechanism. In addition to the production of watches with automatic mechanical and quartz mechanisms,  Citizen watches they are distinguished by their innovative and exclusive mechanism Eco drive, which allowed the creation of the first infinite-charge solar cell clock. The Eco Drive Duo mechanism works thanks to solar cells together with the kinetic energy of the wrist. But it is not only sunlight that powers the mechanism of these watches: in fact, any light source automatically recharges the mechanism.

This eliminates the need for a battery that needs to be replaced frequently; moreover, the rechargeable battery does not use metals harmful to man or the environment, and finally, no toxic substances are used for its production. All these features contribute to the protection of the environment.

Citizen was therefore the first company to distinguish its search for clean and practically infinite energy also for wrist watches, which makes it Citizen watches eco-friendly watches that make the wearer feel the importance of harming the environment as little as possible.

Light, time and innovation are the three guiding concepts behind Citizen philosophy, enclosed in the motto: "Transforming Light into Time to explore the future together".

All at affordable prices for everyone, as well as in the dreams of the Mayor of Tokyo in the 20s: after almost a century, expectations have come true.
